Born in 1986 in the verdant hills of West Virginia, he was raised next door to his grandfather’s Arabian horse farm, where the air was thick with the scent of hay and the rhythmic clop of hooves. Days were spent leading horses to pasture, grooming their sleek coats, and baling hay under the unrelenting sun, forging in him a deep respect for toil. His early years unfolded in a small rural school, its chalk-dusted classrooms a world apart from the sprawling Virginia school he joined in seventh grade. A band nerd at heart, he poured his passion into the trumpet, finding solace in music and a few steadfast friends. At fifteen, he met the girl who would become his wife, their love blossoming by sixteen.
He senior year of high school, he juggled a work-study program, running errands for a lawyer and installing satellite equipment. After graduating he joined a large MEP contractor as a commissioning technician’s helper. He married young, settling into a modest home where winter’s chill tested their resolve. His swift rise at work was a beacon of promise, but it was reading Eragon by Christopher Paolini that ignited a love for stories, opening his eyes to the vast realms of fantasy. In 2008, they bought their first home amid a collapsing market, a gamble that strained their young family. Their first son arrived in shortly there after, and so, he transitioned to building automation to be closer to home, only to face job loss and a reluctant move to Memphis with a second son on the way.
Memphis was a trial, its hardships tempered by the birth of their second son. After years of struggle, a return to Virginia as a building automation specialist with a small contractor brought stability. The Wheel of Time series reshaped his understanding of storytelling, planting the seeds of his own creative aspirations. In time their third son’s birth came, fraught with peril, demanding months of recovery he supported from home. In 2019, he and a colleague boldly purchased their company’s controls division, moving his family into a cramped apartment above the office to nurture their fledgling business. After a few years, they claimed a home on ten acres, its fields a canvas of possibility. In 2025, inspired by the epics that had captivated him, he took up the quill to write, his life’s trials and triumphs fueling a story yet to unfold.
